Severstal began shipping large-diameter pipes for the Kharasaveyskoye gas condensate field development project

Press Releases

PAO Severstal, one of the world's largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, has started shipping large-diameter pipes under the project for the development of the Kharasaveyskoye gas condensate field to the address of its key client, Gazprom. According to the results of the tender won in 2018, Severstal will supply about 60 thousand tons of pipes with a diameter of 1,420 mm made of steel of strength class K65.

Large diameter pipes (LDP) are produced at the Izhora Pipe Plant (ITZ, part of division "Severstal Russian Steel"). By the end of September, customers will have shipped 35 thousand tons of products.

To produce pipes, Severstal uses its own rolled metal, which is produced by the company's 5000 sheet-rolling mill located at the same industrial site with the ITZ in the Kolpinsky district of St. Petersburg. The availability of its own raw material base, steelmaking and rolling production allows Severstal to control the quality of products at each processing stage and provides flexibility in interaction with consumers.

Severstal has a successful long-term experience of cooperation with Gazprom. The company participated in the construction of the largest oil and gas pipelines, supplying unique types of products for the most difficult and critical areas. An example of such cooperation is the participation of Severstal in the implementation of Gazprom's ambitious project for the transportation of natural gas from the Yamal Peninsula to the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia, ”said Dmitry Goroshkov, Director for Relations with Energy Companies of Severstal.

For reference:

Full-scale development of the Kharasaveyskoye field began in March 2019. The project provides for the construction of a complex gas treatment unit, a booster compressor station, clusters of production gas wells, transport and energy infrastructure. At the same time, wells for the development of the offshore part of the field will be drilled from the shore. To transport the gas produced at the Kharasaveyskoye field, a gas pipeline-connection with a length of about 100 km will be built to the Bovanenkovskoye field. Then gas will be supplied to the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia.
