The agreement provides for the joint efforts of the parties for the most effective solution issues of environmental well-being.
“The joint work of business and the state to achieve the goals in the field of ecology, set by the country's leadership, is not just declared. This work is being successfully carried out. The signed agreement will actually give a start to the implementation of the federal project "Clean Air". This is the first example of a public-private partnership in Russia to improve the quality of the environment by reducing emissions, ”commented Svetlana Radionova, head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources.
The agreement provides for the implementation of NLMK Group complex of modernization and new construction projects and includes targets to reduce both gross emissions into the atmosphere and emissions of specific substances monitored by Rosprirodnadzor. The total investment in such projects will exceed 110 billion rubles by 2023, of which about 20 billion rubles will be allocated directly to environmental equipment.
“When implementing NLMK modernization projects, the principle of achieving the level of the best available technologies is used (BAT). BAT is the most efficient equipment and technical solutions that allow minimizing the impact on the environment. Since 2000, NLMK Group has invested over $ 1 billion in environmental projects. As a result, with a 60% increase in steel production, total emissions decreased by 23%, and the Russian BAT level was reached.
