"Victory Route" along MMK

Press Releases
Recall that earlier in this cycle of virtual tours available on the corporate website of PJSC MMK , video stories about Komsomolskaya Square, the first square of Magnitogorsk, where the central office of PJSC MMK is located - the plant management building; about the 4500 thick-sheet rolling mill evacuated to Magnitka from Mariupol, on which armor plates for Soviet tanks were rolled during the Great Patriotic War; and also about the unique steam engine of this mill, whose work history has been going on for over a century.

The new video tour of the MMK starts from the memorial sign "Tank", located on the territory of the plant, installed in 1985 in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Victory. The last Soviet serial heavy tank T-10 was frozen on the pedestal. The place for its installation was not chosen by chance - during the Great Patriotic War, blooming No. 3 was located very close by, where for the first time in the world metallurgical practice an armor plate was rolled on a crimping unit. Also, for the first time in the world, armor steel was welded in large-capacity open-hearth furnaces with a main hearth. These and other achievements allowed the metallurgists of Magnitka during the war years to "put on" every second Soviet tank in armor. It is no coincidence that by the Decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, in July 2020, for the significant contribution of Magnitogorsk residents to the achievement of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the uninterrupted production of military and civilian products at industrial enterprises and the labor heroism and dedication shown at the same time, the city of Magnitogorsk was awarded an honorary title "City of Labor Valor".

For this and much more, see in a new virtual tour of the historical cycle "Victory Route" .
