Metalloinvest launches industrial tourism at Mikhailovsky GOK im. A.V. Varicheva

Metalloinvest, a leading manufacturer and supplier of iron ore products and hot briquetted iron in the world market, one of the regional producers of high-quality steel, launches industrial tourism at its enterprises.

the doors for visitors will be opened by the Mikhailovsky GOK im. A.V. Varichev in the city of Zheleznogorsk, Kursk region. In 2021, excursion routes will be launched at the plant, including the most impressive production facilities.

Tourists will be able to visit the quarry, where the world's largest iron ore deposit is being developed, see a unique crushing and conveyor complex with a length of 700 meters and a giant 240- tonne dump trucks, visit the production of iron ore pellets, get acquainted with the history of the Mikhailovsky GOK in the museum. It is planned to include an attraction based on virtual reality in the route.

Deputy General Director for Sustainable Development and Corporate Communications of Metalloinvest Yulia Mazanova noted the importance of the project for the city of miners of Zheleznogorsk: “Industrial tourism will give a new impetus to the development of small and medium-sized businesses, the creation of cultural and economic partnerships, will acquaint people with the advanced technologies of the mining and metallurgical industry, will serve to popularize blue-collar professions and promote the principles of green metallurgy that Metalloinvest follows. Mikhailovsky GOK has something to show and surprise the most sophisticated travelers. ”

The excursion routes of MGOK as part of the industrial tourism program in the Kursk Region were presented at the International Tourism Exhibition“ Intourmarket-2021 ”in Moscow. As part of the business program of the exhibition, a thematic session "Prospects of industrial tourism for the regions" was held, at which, among other things, the experience and plans of the Kursk, Chelyabinsk, Kemerovo and Ivanovo regions were considered.

"Mikhailovsky GOK is an industrial pearl of the Kursk region - said Yulia Poletykina, chairman of the Kursk region culture committee. “The plant will undoubtedly become one of the points of attraction and will join the regional tourist routes.”

At the end of last year, the administration of the Kursk region signed an agreement with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) on the development of industrial tourism. Its flagships have already been identified: Mikhailovsky GOK im. A.V. Varicheva, Kursk NPP, Kursk Electrical Apparatus Plant and other companies.
