At the site of the INNOPROM international industrial exhibition, the conference “Safety aspects during construction. Experience and development of the project "Cable without danger", in the organization of which the "Holding Cable Alliance" (HCA, unites the cable assets of UMMC) took part.
The problem of falsification of cable and wire products is very acute, said project manager Vladimir Kashkin. According to him, the share of counterfeit products in the cable market exceeds 20%, and if we take specific segments - cable for household needs and general construction works - here this figure, depending on the region, ranges from 30% to 50%.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a third of all fires occur due to the emergency operation of electrical equipment, in 70% of cases, poor-quality cable is to blame, Kashkin explained. For this reason, in the residential sector, about half of all fires occur.
Four years ago, conscientious manufacturers launched the public project "Safety Cable", in which HCA is also actively involved. Then the share of counterfeit products in retail chains reached 70-80%, thanks to the work of the project, it was possible to significantly reduce it.
“The main task is to convey the scale of the problem to government agencies, which must make appropriate decisions at the legislative level. First of all, this is the need to introduce mandatory incoming control at capital construction sites. Now a model of incoming control is being worked out with the Ministry of Construction. I think we will soon get the first results, ”said Vladimir Kashkin.
As Marat Kalimullin, Deputy Head of Marketing and Pricing Department of KhKA emphasized, the factories of Cable Alliance Holding operate a multi-stage quality control system for materials and finished products. With the help of modern equipment, physical, mechanical and electrical characteristics are checked. Directly at the INNOPROM exhibition, the process of testing the resistance of a conductive core was demonstrated. If this indicator does not correspond to GOST, this leads to cable heating, insulation damage, short circuit and fire. Control over housing at KhKA factories begins at the rolling stage, which makes it possible to eliminate rejects already at the first stages of the production process.
