Governor of the Kursk Region Roman Starovoit visited the building under construction for re-enrichment of concentrate (BWC) at Mikhailovsky GOK named after A.V. Varichev.
BWW is a key project of a comprehensive program for the development of MGOK, aimed at dramatically improving the quality of iron ore products, reducing environmental impact and increasing production efficiency.
Launching BWW, scheduled for 2022, will increase the iron content in the concentrate to 70% and reduce the silicon dioxide content to 2.6%, as well as reduce the production cost and specific rates of energy consumption. The technology is based on the use of fine screening and flotation.
“The production volume of high-quality concentrate will be up to 16.9 million tons per year,” said Anton Zakharov, Managing Director of MGOK. - The plant will be able to produce pellets for blast furnace production and metallization with improved characteristics, open new sales markets and strengthen its position in the global iron ore market in a highly competitive environment. With the commissioning of the enrichment building, 108 additional jobs will be created. ”
“ Mikhailovsky GOK, an enterprise of Metalloinvest, is the flagship of the Kursk economy, ”said Roman Starovoit, Governor of the Kursk Region. - The plant is actively modernizing production, introducing modern, environmentally friendly technologies. At the same time, MGOK is one of the largest taxpayers in the region. At the end of 2020, more than 11 billion rubles were transferred to the consolidated budget of the Kursk region. The commissioning of new facilities contributes to the growth of tax payments and attracting additional investments in the social sphere. ”
Currently, 70% of metal structures have been installed under the main frame of the building under construction, and the preparation of foundations for the installation of technological equipment continues. The object will be almost 144 meters long and 34 meters high. The total building area is almost 10 thousand square meters.
The main technological equipment was supplied to the building under construction: 24 Derrick screens, 3 Metso Vertimill ultrafine mills, 58 pneumatic flotation units.
Derrick's fine screening technology has been successfully applied in four sections of the MGOK concentrator as part of the first stage of the investment project. In 2020, the plant produced, using fine screening technology, 3.7 million tons of concentrate with an iron content of 67% and silicon dioxide of no more than 6.3%.
An increase in the production of high-quality raw materials will allow Mikhailovsky GOK to fully meet the needs of the the Mikhailovsky HBI plant (controlled by the USM group) in the Kursk region with a production capacity of over 2 million tonnes of HBI per year. The new HBI production is scheduled to start in the first half of 2024.
