Harness "Vilaterm": features of the material, types, application

Comfortable living conditions in a panel or wooden house largely depend on the quality of thermal insulation. At the same time, special attention is always paid to sealing seams and joints (more details - here) - areas where the formation of "cold bridges" is possible. Today, manufacturers offer various types of seals, differing in their characteristics and cost. "Vilaterm" harness for seams.

Features of the material and its types

"Vilaterm" is a sealant obtained from polyethylene foam by direct extrusion. The material is a porous bundle, almost 90% consisting of air. The presence of closed cells provides good thermal insulation properties of the seal. The Vilaterm tourniquet is a flexible, elastic, waterproof, chemically neutral material.

There are two types of sealant:

  • solid (solid);
  • hollow.

The first one looks like a long cord, the second one looks like a tube. A full-bodied tourniquet is used to seal joints that are uniform in width. If the width of the seam in different areas is not the same, then the best option is to use a hollow material, since it has greater compressibility due to the internal cavity.

The advantages of using

The tourniquet has many advantages in compared with other types of seals. These are:

  • low thermal conductivity;
  • water resistance;
  • inertness with respect to other building materials;
  • mechanical strength;
  • resistance to repeated stretching and compression, which allows it to be used for sealing expansion joints;
  • possibility of repeated use;
  • operation in a wide temperature range (-60 0C - +80 0С);
  • light weight, which simplifies the installation of the harness;
  • durability. With proper installation, the tourniquet can retain its characteristics for more than a quarter of a century;
  • a wide variety of modifications that differ in diameter (10 - 60 mm);
  • affordable cost.

In addition, the Vilaterm tourniquet does not burn, does not emit harmful substances, does not rot and is not damaged by insects. It can be bent at any angle, cut with a knife, used in conjunction with sealants.

Material application

Vilaterm is a universal-purpose material. In addition to being widely used in construction for sealing and sealing joints in panel and wooden houses, assembling door frames and window structures, the tourniquet can also be used for other purposes. For example, for insulating underground pipes, which reduces heat loss and prevents corrosion, in ventilation systems, when laying floor coverings.

This is a material with impeccable performance characteristics, the use of which will allow high-quality thermal insulation of any room.
