The production of rubber products, like many other industries, has been influenced by the current political and economic situation in the world. In connection with the imposed sanctions, supplies from foreign manufacturers to the domestic market have become more difficult. However, the development of the petrochemical, engineering and other industries requires the search for ways of import substitution. USA LLC still has rubber products in full assortment. How the current situation affected the supply of foreign products
In 2022, ALTO CONSULTING GROUP conducted research on customs deliveries of rubber products. The analysis touched upon the status of imports and exports. The following factors were taken into account:
- the economic situation in the world;
- geopolitical situation;
- consequences of sanctions;
- fluctuations in the foreign exchange market;
- Consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic and other minor factors.
According to the results of the research, it was revealed that the domestic production of rubber products suffered the most from the crisis. The volumes of exports, imports of raw materials and finished products decreased. Some well-known brands have left the market. The domestic industry has been experiencing a decline in production for a long time due to the lack of consumer demand. Manufacturers jointly stabilized the situation. The indicator of the annual decline in the industry has become fixed, does not exceed 2.5%. By mid-2022, 60% of Russian and 40% of foreign products are represented on the domestic market.
Domestic RTI manufacturers produce a wide range of products, including more than 15 items. Based on the results of the market survey, the following data on domestic production in tons were obtained:
- conveyor belts - 33,000 tons;
- high pressure hoses - 12000 tons;
- industrial rubber hoses – 38000 t;
- rope rubber tape - 1500 tons
Products include drive belts, technical plates. Growth in the production of some high-demand items increased by up to 25%.
What to prefer - RTI of foreign or domestic manufacturers

The choice is not made according to the country of the manufacturer, but they take into account the promoted name of the company, the characteristics of a particular product and reviews about it. It is advisable to overpay for imports when there is no domestic analogue available.
