On November 28, the Young Mechanical Engineer festival, organized by the Unimatic Group of Companies with the support of the Sverdlovsk regional branch of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Russia and industrial enterprises of the region, ended in Yekaterinburg. The event was aimed at attracting children to mechanical engineering and raising the status of engineering professions among young people. This year the festival attracted a record number of participants - more than 300 children under 10 years old from 65 kindergartens and 42 schools in the city.
Important industry figures were present at the festival: Yulia Vyacheslavova, Deputy Minister of Industry and Science of the Sverdlovsk Region; Evgeny Kopelyan, Director of the Department of Industrial and Investment Policy of the Yekaterinburg City Hall; Sergey Svinin, Deputy General Director for Personnel of PJSC “Machine-Building Plant named after M. I. Kalinin, Yekaterinburg”; Pavel Lyzhin, first deputy chairman - head of the apparatus of the Sverdlovsk RO Union of Mechanical Engineers of Russia.
The festival became a striking example of the importance of early career guidance. For several weeks, children, together with their parents, teachers and educators, explored the world of mechanical engineering. They visited production sites, watched virtual tours and listened to stories about the process of creating modern machines and mechanisms. Inspired by the information received, the participants began creating their own projects - models of machines and equipment using construction sets and available materials, demonstrating their technical thinking and creativity. The final part of the event was the presentation of projects at the Ural Governor's Lyceum in front of a jury consisting of industry experts and representatives of the Unimatic company.
Many interesting projects were presented at the festival: a model of a turbine production workshop of the Ural Turbine Plant, a workshop for production of trams at the Ural Transport Engineering Plant, a pipe rolling machine and various models of turning, drilling, milling and laser machine tools Each participant received a diploma and a memorable gift from the organizers and partners of the festival. Teachers and team mentors were also awarded gifts from industrial enterprises for their contribution to the development of the Ural industry.
The Unimatic company actively supports such initiatives aimed at developing technical education and early career guidance for young people. The “Young Mechanical Engineer” festival is an important event that helps children realize the importance of engineering knowledge, discover their talents and interests in the field of mechanical engineering and technology.
