Characteristics and features of the use of bikrost

Roofs of all types require waterproofing. For each roof configuration, suitable material is selected. Bikrost from Technonikol is the best option for flat roofs and roofs with a low pitch.

Bikrost consists of several layers and is supplied in the form of a roll. The base is made of fiberglass or polyester fabric and treated with bituminous material with special additives. They improve the waterproofing performance and increase the strength of the base. These layers are protected with foil and slate.

The main types of Bikrost

The parameters of a bikrost depend on what materials it is made of. Several brands of this type of waterproofing are produced. They all have a similar structure, but differ in composition and scope.

Let's list the most commonly used types of this material.

Bikrost TPP is made of fiberglass, which is treated with a bitumen composition. On both sides it is covered with a polyethylene film, which protects the fiberglass from mechanical damage on top.

Bikrost TKP by the structure is similar to the CCI. The difference is that on top it is covered with shale dusting with coarse grains, which protect the surface from mechanical stress and temperature fluctuations.

HKP is made of fiberglass reinforced with bitumen. The top is sprinkled with coarse slate chips, and the bottom is covered with a film.

HSP differs from HKP in top coating. At HPP it is made of film.

All types of bikrost have the following advantages:

  • absolutely steam and waterproof;

  • remain flexible even at low temperatures;

  • do not deform when heated to 80 degrees.

Application of Bikrost

This type of waterproofing, the top layer of which is covered with dressing, is the finishing roofing material. It copes well with mechanical stress. But it should be noted that in very hot areas it becomes soft and can be damaged.

Bikrost, covered with a film on both sides, is intended for hydro and vapor barrier. During installation, the lower layer heats up, melts and adheres as tightly to the base as possible, while it adheres well to the upper layer of the roof. The canvas is also used for insulating water pipes, waterproofing floors, walls, foundations, floors.

A gas torch, a hair dryer or a blowtorch are used for fusing. Installation with bitumen mastic is also possible.

At the end, it should be added that it is notable for its low price, but at the same time with high performance properties. Thanks to this, it is in great demand in the domestic market.
