Brazil's only blast furnace shut down

The blast furnace, located in Divinopolis, smelted more than 120,000 tons of pig iron per year, and the shutdown and transfer of the rights to use such a large enterprise will completely change the structure of interaction between adjacent companies and partners.

Future plans for its operation were not announced by the owner, the representative of Arcelor Mittal explained this step by the fact that the further operation of the furnace no longer corresponds to the company's trading strategy, and the decision itself should not affect commercial activities and logistics.

Considering that the company owns 10% of the world steel market, it will be about changes in logistics and some reorganization of production in 14 countries of the world that will be discussed in the future.

As for the distribution of the iron and steel market in Brazil, the suspension of the production of such a giant gives a chance for the development of small metallurgical enterprises.
