The European Metallurgical Association "Eurofer " issued a statement that over the past year, steel consumption in the EU countries increased by 2.6%, but despite this, at the moment for companies based on work in the metallurgy , the situation has become unfavorable.
According to the forecast of "Eurofer ", steel consumption in Europe in 2019 will increase by only 0.5% when compared with the past year. On average, sales growth over the next two years will be significantly lower than over the past four. The increase in consumption within the EU served to increase imports, but supplies of regional companies, meanwhile, were actively declining.
According to the head of the association, the increased tariffs and annual quotas in the new year contribute to a decrease in the work of the European market as a whole. At the same time, the situation is a catalyst for the inflow of products from other countries to the European metal market, which will negatively affect the market in the next couple of years.
