Tesla Inc said it has increased insurance benefits for car orders in China placed before November 30, but lowered them for orders placed next month to encourage consumers to place orders earlier.
The American automaker previously offered an insurance incentive of 7,000 yuan ($970) for bookings between October 1 and December 30. But Tesla said on Tuesday that the incentive for November was raised to 8,000 yuan and lowered for December orders to 4,000 yuan. Tesla made the announcement on its official Weibo account by announcing the policy change.
An insurance incentive is a cash discount offered to customers when they purchase insurance from Tesla's partner insurance companies.
According to To the China Passenger Car Association last week, Tesla delivered 71,704 Chinese-made electric vehicles (EVs) in October, down 14% from September.
Tesla has also cut starting prices in China for Model 3 and Model Y and closed its flagship showroom in China last month.
