According to the World Organization of Automobile Manufacturers (OISA), in the first 9 months of 2022, the global automotive industry produced more than 61 million vehicles. Compared to the same period last year, the volume of global auto production increased by 7%, while at the same time, the gap is 10% from the pre-pandemic indicator (compared to the same period in 2019).
The largest share of produced cars in the world auto production belongs to passenger cars. From January to September of this year, 43.7 million passenger cars were produced, up 9% over the 9 months of last year.
Production of light commercial vehicles increased by 7% to 14.7 million units of Heavy Duty almost 2.5 million cars were manufactured during the reporting period (-25%). The production of buses increased by 24% to 170 thousand units.
The leaders in auto production in the first three quarters of 2022 were: China - 19,632,418 units. (+7%); USA - 7,515,829 pcs. (+10%); Japan - 5675088 pcs. (-3%); India - 4,133,398 units. (+26%); South Korea - 2695690 pcs. (+5%).
