The upward trend in the spot rebar market in Romania continued this week, while the only Romanian rebar manufacturer and the spot wire rod segment kept their offers at the same level compared to the previous week.
Although the beginning of the new EU quota period has led to higher prices, especially in the rebar segment, this increase has not led to an increase in demand, and trade volumes in the domestic market remain limited.
According to market participants, with the Easter weekend approaching, prices may decrease slightly, as buyers, seeing a significant increase in prices, are less likely to want to buy at current prices.
The price of rebar at the only domestic factory is stable week after week and amounts to 590-605 euros per ton from the factory. On the other hand, Romanian rebar dealers increased their offers by 10-25 euros per ton week after week to 610-630 euros per ton from the warehouse.
In the wire rod market, many traders have kept prices at the level of 580-595 euros per ton from the warehouse since last week, as demand is still not conducive to growth.Meanwhile, in the import market, while most offers remain unchanged and no purchases have been made since last week, Bulgarian suppliers have increased their offers. According to sources, Bulgaria has increased rebar prices to about 635-640 euros per ton compared to 610-620 euros per ton compared to last week.
However, Egyptian suppliers kept prices for rebar and wire rod unchanged week after week at 550-555 euros per ton without VAT and 560-565 euros per ton without VAT, respectively. In addition, the supply of rebar and wire rod in Greece remains stable week after week, amounting to 620-625 euros per ton and 610-615 euros per ton, respectively.
