European domestic hot-rolled coil prices were mostly unchanged on Monday, September 22, with trading being moderate to modest while market participants await news on regulatory policy.
A buyer's source from Germany says that the price of €580-590 ($684-696) per ton of Ex-work will be the maximum achievable per day in Northern Europe.
. Another source told the buyer that suppliers from Germany had concluded deals of about €580 per ton of Ex-work.
Meanwhile, a repeat of the video in the Benelux region was reported to have sold its material for €560 per ton to EXW.
Calculations
Fastmarkets’ daily hot-rolled steel coil index, domestic, Northern Europe pickup, EUR 577.50 per tonne on Monday, down by €2.50 per tonne from €580.00 per tonne on September 19th.
The Nordic index declined by €2.81 per tonne week-on-week, but that is down by €3.75 per tonne compared to the previous month.
The Italian market was quieter, with no transactions reported during the day.
The latest offers from local businesses in the country are about €570 per ton on a free-of-charge basis, with estimates of workable prices ranging from €540-560 per ton of ex-work, but they have been said to be theoretical amid a lack of real trade.
Fastmarkets daily hot-rolled steel coil index, domestic, on EXW terms in Italy, was €550,00 € per tonne on Monday, unchanged from Friday.
The Italian index rose by €1.25 per tonne week-on-week and by €9.17 per tonne compared to the previous month.
