The German company Klöckner & Co., a manufacturer and distributor of steel and non-ferrous metals, announced the sale of seven distribution sites located in the United States and operated by its subsidiary Kloeckner Metals Corporation to the American steel manufacturer Russel Metals.
The sites are located in Austin and Houston (Texas), Charlotte (North Carolina), Dubuque (Iowa), Jacksonville and Pompano Beach (Florida), as well as in Suwanee near Atlanta (Georgia). In a separate transaction, another distribution facility in Amarillo, Texas, will be sold to Service Steel Warehouse.
Guido Kerkhoff, CEO of Klöckner & Co., emphasized that these sales represent "crucial milestones in the consistent implementation of our strategy." He stressed that the company strives to focus on services for processing and manufacturing value-added products, while reducing dependence on the cyclical distribution of goods.
