Swedish specialty steel manufacturer SSAB has announced a strategic partnership with the Swedish company EAB Group, which aims to supply non-fossil fuel steel, including SSAB Zero™, for use in the company's core business areas such as warehouse fittings, doors, and steel building solutions.
As part of the partnership, EAB has already integrated SSAB Zero™ into the machine chassis of its Radioshuttle™ storage solution, which is used internationally to optimize storage and increase energy efficiency. This collaboration highlights the shared commitment of both companies to accelerate the industrial application of environmentally friendly steel products.
EAB CEO Per — Oke Andersson said that the partnership symbolizes the common vision of advancing metallurgy towards a sustainable future, which they are undertaking together.
Through this partnership, EAB is strengthening its sustainability roadmap, which calls for halving carbon dioxide emissions over the next decade. The integration of fossil fuel-free steel into EAB's product line aligns production methods and supply chains with its long-term climate change goals.
It is expected that in the future this cooperation will contribute to the development of not only warehouse systems and steel buildings, but also other industries where high-performance steel with low emissions is in demand. By combining SSAB's advanced materials solutions with EAB's global manufacturing facilities, the partnership aims to demonstrate the scalable industrial adoption of fossil fuel-free steel.
