The European market for hot-rolled coils was generally calm, buyers were provided with a sufficient number of goods, and sellers maintained stable offers, with the exception of Central Europe, Fastmarkets reported on Friday, November 28.

In Northern Europe, plant targets are still in the range of 620-650 euros per ton per plant, and only one distributor in the region offers a roll of about 600 euros per ton per plant.

Estimates of real prices still ranged from 610-620 euros per ton from the plant, while no deals were heard that day.

As a result, Fastmarkets' daily exw hot-rolled steel price index decreased slightly on Friday to 615.00 euros (US$713.00) per tonne, down by just 0.17 euros per tonne from 615.17 euros per tonne on Friday. November 27th

The indicator increased by 2.92 euros per ton week-on-week and by 12.95 euros per ton month-on-month.

In Italy, rolls for January delivery were available in the range of 600-620 euros per ton from the factory, while reasonable prices were reported to remain below 600 euros per ton from the factory.

The daily price index for Fastmarkets hot-rolled steel in the domestic market, exw in Italy on Friday was 602.50 euros per ton, which is 0.42 euros higher than 602.08 euros per ton on Thursday.

The indicator increased by only 0.62 euros per ton week-on-week, but increased by 11.25 euros per ton month-on-month.

In Central Europe, HRC, including materials from a leading European supplier, could be purchased at a price of 640-645 euros per ton (about 630 euros from the factory) against 620-630 euros per ton, which were sold earlier in November, while some batches were sold at a lower price.

The sources cited the successful closing of the December order portfolio by a key local supplier, lack of pressure from imported materials, especially from Indonesia, and rising pipe prices in the region as the main reasons for the increase.

This information, however, appeared after the publication of Fastmarkets' weekly estimate of prices for hot-rolled steel for domestic consumption, exw in Central Europe on Wednesday, November 26, when they amounted to 610-620 euros per ton, unchanged from the previous week.
