According to Callanish, Voestalpine has agreed to sell Boehler Profil, part of its high-strength metals division, a supplier of special profiles for various industrial applications, including industrial knives.

The buyer is Kadant, an American company based in Webford, Massachusetts, with 3,900 employees in 22 countries. According to voestalpine, Kadant will retain the staff of the division operating at the production site in Bruckbach, Lower Austria.

The Austrian group is selling off the division for strategic reasons and in line with the optimization of the portfolio of high-performance metallurgical divisions. "Kadant has repeatedly expressed interest in the company," says Executive Director Herbert Eibensteiner regarding the sale agreement.

In the fiscal year 2024/25, Boehler Profil had about 150 employees and revenue of 51.5 million euros ($61.6 million). Over the past 15 years, voestalpine has invested a total of 23 million euros in the Bruckbach plant, including modernization of automation and digitalization of profile production, the group emphasizes.

The spin-off followed the sale of another high-performance metals division, Buderus Edelstahl in Wetzlar, Germany, as well as the consolidation of production sites outside Austria and the adjustment of voestalpine Böhler Bleche production facilities. Thanks to these measures, voestalpine's high-performance metals division has successfully completed the restructuring process of its portfolio.
