Andritz company pays special attention to the production technologies of electrical steel

The metallurgical division of Andritz is working on a new furnace concept for the production of electrical steel, Kallanish told the Austrian manufacturer.

The company explains that the focus is on a fully modular design that allows for quick installation. The electrical steel produced in these furnaces provides increased efficiency and can be directly integrated into processing lines already supplied by Andritz.

Following the launch of the Sundwig monoblock, a 20-roll mill for the production of cold-rolled strips, Andritz now has a full range of multi-roll mills for the production of foil-thick electrical steel.

The company states that it strives to establish itself as a supplier of integrated solutions for the production of non-grain-oriented electrical steel.

To this end, in December, Andritz acquired a 51% stake in China's Baoding Sanzheng Electrical Equipment, an induction heating solution provider located in Hebei Province, the country's largest steel producing province.

Sanzheng integration provides Andritz with a full range of induction heating technologies, which complements its ability to provide integrated solutions for electrical steel processing, galvanizing, annealing and forging.

Another acquisition in the metallurgical division last year was the Salico Group, with headquarters in Italy and Spain, which specializes in modern finishing equipment for processing flat metal strips.

In 2025, the Andritz metallurgical division recorded an order volume of 1.48 billion euros ($1.71 billion), which is 13% less than in 2024. It says consumer demand is increasingly shifting towards smaller-scale projects, upgrades, and non-automotive applications such as defense.

The larger Andritz group of companies, which includes hydropower, pulp and paper industry, energy and environmental protection, received orders worth 8.9 billion euros, which is 7.6% more than a year earlier.
