The volume of trade in steel products in France will decrease in 2025, as both exports and imports will decrease.

According to statistics published by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, the volume of trade in major steel products and ferroalloys in France in 2025 decreased in value terms for both exports and imports compared to the previous year.

Exports of major steel products and ferroalloys from France in 2025 reached 9.32 billion euros, a decrease of 3.3% year-on-year. During the same period, steel pipe exports totaled 1.27 billion euros, down 0.5 percent from 2024. Exports of cold-rolled steel products totaled 428.61 million euros, remaining stable year-on-year, while exports of cold-rolled steel strip reached 652.16 million euros, down 6.6 percent. Exports of cold-drawn wire totaled 289.36 million euros, down 12.2%, while exports of metal structures and parts increased slightly by 0.5% to 908.57 million euros.

Meanwhile, imports of basic steel products and ferroalloys to France in 2025 amounted to 8.72 billion euros, which is 8.4 percent less than last year. Imports of steel pipes amounted to 2.03 billion euros, an increase of 1.6 percent compared to the previous year. Imports of cold-rolled steel products reached 491.95 million euros, an increase of 3.1 percent, while imports of cold-rolled steel strips totaled 638.29 million euros, a decrease of 6.7 percent. Imports of cold-drawn wire amounted to 472.37 million euros, a decrease of 1.3% year-on-year, while imports of metal structures and parts amounted to 2.5 billion euros, a decrease of 5.8% compared to 2024.
