SSAB opens new steel service center in Mumbai to expand its presence in India

Swedish steel manufacturer SSAB has announced the opening of a new steel service center in Mumbai, India, to strengthen its presence in the growing Indian market.

The investment reflects SSAB's strategy to expand its value-added services and processing facilities in key growing markets. India's industrial and infrastructure sectors continue to drive demand for advanced steel production technologies, making it a strategic location for service center expansion.

The company will focus on the production and supply of parts, kits and advanced components made of SSAB Hardox® wear-resistant steel and Strenx® high-strength steel.

The focus will be on value-added steel processing.

According to the company, the new service center, located in an industrial park with convenient access to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Tana, will provide specialized processing in the workshops, which will allow manufacturers to receive ready-to-assemble components tailored to their needs. This offer is designed to support customers who require high-strength and wear-resistant steel solutions, especially in demanding industrial environments.

The new center includes a warehouse capable of holding more than 10,000 tons of steel sheet.

The Mumbai-based facility will primarily serve Indian manufacturers of transportation equipment, construction machinery and lifting equipment. By supplying finished steel components, SSAB aims to help customers improve efficiency and reduce production time.
