Steel production in Italy increased by 7.2% year-on-year in April, reaching 1.9 million tons.

A significant increase after a slight 0.2% increase recorded in March indicates an acceleration in production. According to data compiled by SteelRadar from the Italian steel producers association Federacciai, total steel production in Italy reached 7.6 million tons in the first four months of this year. This figure is 2.9% more than in the same period last year. In April, there was a significant discrepancy between product groups. The production of hot-rolled long products reached 1.2 million tons, an increase of 12.3% compared to the same period last year. In this segment, the total production volume for the period from January to April reached 4.6 million tons, while the annual increase was 10.5%. . On the contrary, the production of hot-rolled flat products in April remained at 743,000 tons, showing a decrease of 9.3% year-on-year. The production of flat rolled products in the first four months of this year amounted to 3.1 million tons, continuing a weak downward trend of 6.7%.
