Italian steel production fell 2.8% year-on-year in November after four months of growth. Steel production in Italy returned to decline in November compared to the same period last year after a four-month recovery. According to the Italian steel producers association Federacciai, total steel production in Italy decreased by 2.8% compared to the same period last year to 1.8 million tons, ending the period of growth observed between July and October. Despite the November recession, the Italian steel sector as a whole maintained positive dynamics during the first eleven months of this year. The total production volume in January–November reached 19.3 million tons, which is 2.5% more than in the same period of 2024.
The difference in hot-rolled products is increasing. In November, the opposite trends continued in the categories of hot-rolled products: the production of long products continued to grow, while the production of flat products decreased again. The volume of long products produced in November amounted to 1.1 million tons, an increase of 7.2% compared to the same period last year. Although the growth rate has slowed down somewhat, the upward trend has continued. In the first eleven months of this year, the production of rolled products increased by 4.7% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 11.5 million tons, approaching the 2024 figure of 11.6 million tons. . On the contrary, the production of flat rolled products continued to decline. The volume of production in November amounted to 709,000 tons, which is 5.2% less than last year. Nevertheless, the total volume of flat rolled products in January–November increased by 3.8% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 8.3 million tons.
