Main owner of British gas operator British Gas, plans to cut this year 5,000 jobs to "stop the decline" of the company.
New CEO Centrica Chris O'Shea said that the energy giant will cut three levels of management in order to reduce the burden on businesses.
about half of the jobs will be cut among the company's management, management and corporate personnel.
this will include half of the top management team of 40 people, which will be fired by the end of August.
the Company was faced with the departure of customers to smaller suppliers, and in February recorded the largest loss in 2019 because of a limitation in energy prices and falling gas prices.
"Since I became CEO almost three months ago, I focused on how to lead the company through the crisis Covid-19 and determine what needs to change in Centrica," said Mr. O'Shea. "We realized during the crisis that we can be flexible and responsive in the most demanding conditions and to put our customers at the center of our decisions.
