Iran increases production of rolled steel by 8 percent

Slabs and billets accounted for more than half of the rolled metal produced in Iran during the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year.

Iranian steel production in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-July 22) reached a total of 15.61 million tonnes, the Financial Tribune reported on Sunday.

According to the Iranian Steel Association, the figure shows an increase of eight percent over the same period last year, the report said.

Semi-finished steel in the total amount of rolled metal amounted to 8.68 million tons. Steel billet production amounted to 5.12 million tonnes, while slab production totaled 3.56 million tonnes of total semi-finished product.

In terms of finished steel production, flat products account for the lion's share with 3.58 million tonnes, including 3.01 million tonnes of hot rolled coils in this category, followed by cold rolled coils and coated coils.
