According to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 129,413 tons in July this year, up 75.6% year on year and down 36.2% compared to June.
Turkey's total value of pig iron imports increased by 48.9% year-on-year to $69.19 million in the reporting month, down 49.3% from the previous month.
Meanwhile, between January and July this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 919,639 tons, up 46.7% from last year, and the revenue from these imports amounted to $575.09 million, an increase of 69.8% compared to the same period in 2021.
From January to July this year, Turkey imported 589,048 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 198.1% from last year. Russia ranked first among the sources of pig iron imports to Turkey in the period under review, followed by Brazil, which supplied 205,665 tons.
