The UK Metals Expo can bring positivity to the sector challenged by the difficult trading conditions of domestic metallurgists in crisis and share views on trade defense.
That, according to the panelists on the last episode of the speeches, the deputies of the European Parliament have become a podcast . Steel market analysts Adam Crookes and John Carruthers-Green joined MEPs Tom Sharp's executive editor to reflect on the key topics to be discussed at this year's event, taking place in Birmingham, September 10-11.
The price of steel products estimated by the European Steel Comment department remained stable, at low levels, in August, rebar and wire rod, sitting at four-year lows. But since there was low demand in Europe and the United Kingdom during the summer holidays, Carruthers-Green stressed that there was no shortage of topics for discussion.
"In April, British Steel was on the verge of closing," he said. "More recently, we have heard news about Liberty Steel UK (Special Steels division) going into administration.
"We had some bad news, and some incomprehensible news, as well, with the changes in the UK guarantees that were announced just 12 hours before they came into force. So, I hope that such an event will give you the opportunity to hear some more positive news."
At last year's UK Metals Expo, Tata Steel UK announced a £500 million public investment that will support low-emission EDP production at its facilities in Port Talbot, South Wales.
The MEPS podcast team, "Talking about Steel," interviewed the steel company's chief executive, Rajesh Nair, shortly after the announcement.

The head of the European Parliament's Price Analysis and Forecasts Department, Kay Ayub, will hold two panel discussions at the upcoming UK Metal Expo. These discussions on the carbon and stainless steel markets will take place as part of the "Chain" event.
