Arabian Gulf Steel Industries (AGSI) from Abu Dhabi may acquire the British manufacturer Speciality Steel UK (SSUK), which is in liquidation, Metal Expert reports.
AGSI is among the bidders for the purchase, which is confirmed by the efforts of the British authorities to preserve production and jobs.
Discussions on the agreement are ongoing, but the details have not yet been disclosed.
AGSI positions itself as a zero-emission steel producer, planning to produce 5 million tons of green steel by 2030 and reduce emissions by 95%.
The company uses EDP made from 100% recycled steel, avoiding fossil fuels.
Founder and CEO Assam Hussain stressed that sustainable development was integrated into the plant's design from the very beginning, not added later.
