The accident occurred at the Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Union enterprise in the Inner Mongolia region. The media released footage showing a huge column of smoke billowing over the factory site.

According to China Central Television, in addition to the two dead, eight more workers are still missing. 84 people were taken to hospitals.

Local officials said that measures have already been taken against those responsible in accordance with the law. Search and rescue teams continue to work at the scene.
