Ukrzaliznytsia wants to sell thousands of tons of non-ferrous scrap metal

Ukrzaliznytsia has prepared for sale almost 2 thousand. Tons of non–ferrous scrap, of which 1,027 tons are for lead, 769 tons for copper, and 167.5 tons for aluminum. The available scrap amounts to 25.28 tons of brass, 5.1 tons of zinc, and 4.75 tons of bronze.

In addition, 1,117 tons of various types of non-ferrous scrap are in the process of being prepared for sale. In other words, we are talking about about 3,200 tons of non-ferrous scrap, which the company expects to sell on the site."Prozorro. Sales".

The relevant data were presented during a meeting of representatives of the Property policy Department of Ukrzaliznytsia with participants in the market for scrap of non-ferrous metals and their alloys, as well as experts and representatives of relevant associations regarding the conditions and effectiveness of auctions for the sale of recyclables.

Ukrzaliznytsya has a significant amount of non-ferrous scrap, which is formed daily during repairs, said Tatiana Aksenenko, Deputy Director of the Property Policy Department of UZ. Therefore, the company is interested in rhythmic sales, as this will allow it to make a profit and free up space for new volumes of scrap, which is constantly accumulating.

During the meeting, representatives of companies buying raw materials drew the attention of UZ to several problematic issues, the solution of which could improve the efficiency of auctions. Now it is at a low level: according to Aksenenko, only 5-7 of the 50 lots put up for auction have recently become effective.

Thus, business representatives pointed out the need to introduce a more flexible approach to payment. Currently, buyers must pay 100% of the lot value immediately after signing the contract, which, given the long delivery time, leads to the freezing of large amounts for a long time. There was a proposal from market participants to allow payment for goods in installments (50/50 or 60/40). Representatives of UZ agreed to consider this option for individual metals, such as copper, since the sale of certain types of copper often requires additional contamination assessment, which in itself is a lengthy process.

Shipping issues were also mentioned. According to individual participants of the meeting, there are situations when some lots contain small amounts of scrap (20-100 kg), which are stored in remote locations. In this case, the cost of exporting raw materials often exceeds its cost. Responding to this request, the UZ representative agreed with the need to group the lots in such a way that buyers could pick up large volumes in one place. She also agreed to work out the possibility of sending small shipments by mail at the expense of the buyer after signing
