On May 22, the Ministry of Finance and Economy of South Korea (MOFE) announced the introduction of temporary anti-dumping duties ranging from 22.34% to 33.67% on Chinese cold-rolled galvanized steel products for the period until the final investigation is completed.
This is reported by the SBB Daily Briefing.
The measures taken on the basis of the April recommendations of the trade commission on the complaint of Dongkuk CM, KG Steel and SeAH CM companies will be effective for four months – from June 12 to October 12, 2026.
The restrictions apply to flat cold-rolled products coated with zinc or its alloys with a thickness of less than 4.75 mm (including 11 corresponding HS codes) used in construction, the automotive industry and the manufacture of household appliances; at the same time, an exception is made for products with electrolytic galvanizing or galvanized by annealing.
Against this background, the Chinese spot market showed a slight decline: quotations for the SS400 roll with a thickness of 3 mm, according to Platts estimates, decreased by $1/ton to $502/ton FOB China, and prices for similar products in Southeast Asia fell by $5/ton to $574/ton CFR.
