Coal production in China rose by 14.8% in March

In March 2022, China experienced a rapid increase in coal production due to policies to increase production and secure supplies, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NSO) of the PRC.

According to the State Statistics Committee, last month the volume of coal production in the country increased by 14.8% year on year to 396 million tons. The growth rate was 4.5 percentage points higher than in January-February.

In March, China imported 16.42 million tons of coal, which is 39.9% less than in the same period last year.

In the first quarter, the volume of raw coal production in the country increased by 10.3% year on year to 1.08 billion tons, while imports decreased by 24.2%, amounting to 51.81 million tons.
