Rosprirodnadzor will check all dams in the Russian Federation after a fatal accident in the Krasnoyarsk Territory

The Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor) from October 23 will begin checking all areas where the Sisim gold mining company operates, at whose deposits five dams have been destroyed.

In addition, Rosprirodnadzor asked the Russian government to allow inspection of all dams in the country after the deadly accident in the Krasnoyarsk Territory that killed 15 people.

Recall that on the night of October 19 in the Kuraga region on the Seiba River, first one dam collapsed, and then four more. All of them, according to the data of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, were installed illegally and without permits. As a result, 15 people died and 44 were injured. The fate of five more is unknown.

The director of a gold mining enterprise, the head and foreman of a mining site were detained. The families of the victims were promised to pay a million rubles each as compensation. October 21 was declared a day of mourning in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
