NIOC has identified 12 projects in oil and gas areas throughout the country.

"Oil and gas are likely to be found on these 12 projects, five of which are prioritized for implementation, and seven others are still under study," said Hendi.

In December last year, Hendi said that Iran was open approximately 35-40 new hydrocarbon fields that need development. "Now we are the first in the world reserves of oil and gas," he said.

According to forecasts, by around 2035-2040 year, 30% more will be consumed of energy, and the share of hydrocarbons will continue. Today, the share in the global energy mix is approximately 85%. Experts estimate that by 2035, it will drop to 75%.

Proven oil reserves at current production levels enough to meet the needs of the planet for at least 150 years.
