Commercial Metals Co., Nucor, Steel Dynamics Inc. and Gerdau Long Steel North America announced price increases for rebar. All four manufacturers said confirmed orders at the close of business on January 7 would be protected against price increases if shipped by January 22.
These moves mark the fourth round of rebar price increases since late November, with a cumulative increase of over $ 185 /t.
The main reason for the rise in prices is the increase in scrap prices, which rose by more than $ 70 per tonne during the December purchase, and the January scrap purchase led to the fact that the supply in the Midwest of the USA increased by $ 90 compared to December prices.
