Severstal has developed and implemented a digital end-to-end planning system in the steelmaking industry of the Cherepovets Metallurgical Plant (CherMK, a key asset of Severstal).

"The new system solves the tasks of increasing the efficiency of steel production and product quality through competent operational planning. The algorithm is based on mathematical optimization and analysis of a large amount of data coming from aggregates. The tool helps to ensure the synchronous operation of the equipment of all workshops in the technological chain, by drawing up an optimal schedule for smelting, off-furnace processing and casting of converter-made smelters. This allows us to carry out the planned steel production volumes while minimizing technological risks and unpredictable costs," commented Evgeny Vinogradov, General Director of the Severstal Russian Steel Division and Resource Assets.

The users of the solution are shift managers, dispatchers, and shop staff. Today, in 95% of cases, employees follow the recommendations of the digital assistant, which allows them to achieve economic benefits.

The digital system is developed by Severstal. This is the result of cooperation between the metallurgical industry, experts from the Business System Development Center and Severstal-Infocom developers.
