Plans for the second phase of BOAZ remain in force, but their implementation depends on our partner, Rushydro, Rusal Vice President Elena Bezdenezhnykh said in an interview with Vedomosti.
"We have invested more than 150 billion rubles in BoAZ and initially expected its further development. The second stage will cost another 60 billion. Negotiations are underway now, and as soon as we come to an agreement, we will immediately begin construction."The decision to modernize the plants in Krasnoyarsk and Bratsk has been made and is being implemented. The commercial conditions oblige us to respect confidentiality, noted Elena Bezdenezhnykh.
"As you know, money loves silence, especially in dealing with banks. In Krasnoyarsk and Bratsk, the construction of new buildings is in full swing: foundations have been installed, and supporting columns have been installed. Siberia has very harsh winters – the active construction season begins in March. We will transfer more than 1 million tons of capacity of our plants to the technology of fired anodes. This means zero benzapyrene emissions and minimal emissions of other pollutants. Factories are located near cities, so environmental safety is our main concern. Full production capacity is planned for 2027-2028."

The modernization of enterprises will cost Rusal more than 200 billion rubles.
At the same time, the vice president of Rusal noted that aluminum production is declining. Due to the sanctions, the company reduced volumes by 10% – evenly across all plants, including Siberian ones. Elena Bezdenezhnykh stressed that not a single enterprise has been stopped or closed, factories, labor collectives, and competencies have been preserved. Salaries are indexed annually in accordance with the collective agreement. In particular, starting from May 2025, they will grow by 10% at the plants.
