At the Novolipetsk Steel Mill, Stan-2000 is called the "heart" of the enterprise. There, slabs are transformed into steel strips for finished products.

Sometimes there were unplanned downtime in the operation of the unit due to water in the bearing oil.
This happens when water enters the lubrication system of the roller bearings. The viscosity of the oil decreases, and the friction increases. This has a negative effect on the life of the oil and the rolling cage parts.
NLMK's experts in new materials have found a non-standard solution to this problem. A hydrodynamic separator was connected to the lubrication system of the Mill-2000 to remove water. It is a device that separates liquids. His work is based on centrifugal force and gravity.
NLMK noted that the technology is simple, but it is ideally suited for solving the problem.
Now the oil for the bearings is cleaned of water, and their service life has increased, which has led to a complete absence of unplanned downtime in the mill.
This project is one of 48 that have already been implemented by the New Materials and Technologies Department of the Directorate for the Development of Maintenance and Repairs. The team is currently developing 15 new projects.
