The new facility of Severstal's key asset is equipped with equipment for storing, processing and shipping hot-rolled products to customers from the company's largest rolling unit. Also, as part of the investment project, the construction of a new building, the installation of metal structures and overhead cranes, a railway track and a car entrance were completed.

About 3.7 thousand tons of rolled products were shipped as part of the hot commissioning of the conveyor line, the tipping machine and overhead cranes.

Mill 2000 is CherMK's most productive hot rolling unit. It produces more than 6.5 million tons of rolled metal per year, which is 65% of the plant's marketable products for construction, mechanical engineering and energy, said Evgeny Vinogradov, General Director of the Severstal Russian Steel division and resource assets.

"The construction of a warehouse complex worth about 5 billion rubles will make it possible to unload the technological chain, increase shipping efficiency and provide customers with additional volumes of finished products. It is with this project that we associate our strategic goals to increase the output of rolled metal at the mill 2000 to 7 million tons per year. The new facility, designed taking into account the best practices of Severstal warehouse logistics, is designed for simultaneous storage of up to 8 thousand tons of rolled products. The complex is scheduled to be put into commercial operation in the 1st quarter of 2026."

The design documentation for the main equipment was prepared by KO VNIIMETMASH (part of Severstal). The division's specialists also manufactured and supplied a tipping device and an automatic lubrication system for conveyor chain links, which are key elements of the technological complex. For the construction of the facility, the Severstal Steel Solutions group of companies produced about 2 thousand tons of metal structures.

In recent years, Severstal has invested more than 20 billion rubles in the modernization of Mill 2000. In particular, new equipment for coiling coils was launched in 2024, and a new heating furnace No. 3 was put into operation in 2025 to increase production efficiency.
