Income from Ukrainian steel exports decreased by 62% since the beginning of the year

In January-September of the current year, the metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine reduced the proceeds from the export of ferrous metals to $3.97 billion, having sold 5.18 million tons of ferrous metal products abroad.

According to the data of the State Customs Service released on Thursday, the metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine in January-September 2022 reduced the export of ferrous metals in physical terms by 65.5% compared to the same period in 2021 - to 5.18 million tons. In monetary terms, exports over this period fell by 61.6% to $3.97 billion. In September, proceeds from the export of ferrous metals amounted to $241.45 million.

For the first 9 months of 2022, pig iron exports decreased by 55.9% year-on-year, to 1.08 million tons, and scrap metal, by 92.3%, to 35.3 thousand tons. Shipment of semi-finished products abroad in January-September 2022 decreased by 68.9% to 1.67 million tons, and rolled steel - by 66.1% to 2.11 million tons.

In the structure of Ukrainian exports of ferrous metals for 9 months of 2022, the share of semi-finished products was 32.1%, metallurgical raw materials (cast iron, ferroalloys, scrap) - 27.1%, rolled steel - 40.8%.

It was previously reported that the metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine in January-August 2022 reduced revenues from the export of ferrous metals by 58% compared to the same period last year, from $8.92 to $3.72 billion.
