Metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine in January-May of this year reduced the proceeds from the export of ferrous metals by 60.7% compared to the same period last year - up to 1 billion 136.465 million dollars. This is stated in the data published on the eve of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
The share of ferrous metals in the structure of total exports of Ukrainian commercial products for the reporting period fell to 6.91% of total revenues against 14.8% in January- May 2022.
However, in May, ferrous metal export earnings amounted to $313.168 million, while in the previous month they were $239.718 million.
In addition, in January - May 2022, Ukraine practically retained the export of hardware at the level of five months of the previous year - $424.450 million. In May, the income from the export of hardware amounted to 90.854 million dollars.
The fall in export earnings in the ferrous metallurgy of Ukraine occurs against the backdrop of a significant reduction in the production of rolled metal.
According to the information of the association "Ukrmetallurgprom" for the first five months this year, steel production decreased by 43.7% compared to January-May 2022 - to 2.392 million tons. Pig iron smelting over this period decreased by 43.9%, to 2.350 million tons.
Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises in January-May of this year reduced the production of general rolled products by 47.8% compared to the same period last year - up to 1.982 million tons.
