Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba spoke about plans to create offices for European integration in the regions, noting that the opening of offices with a focus on the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine should contribute to the "decentralization of European integration."
The offices will become regional institutions responsible for European integration at the local level, he said at a meeting with deputy ministers responsible for the direction of European integration.
The European Integration Offices, according to the Deputy Prime Minister, will help to attract transport and border infrastructure projects, foreign investments and EU assistance to the regions of Ukraine, as well as to maximize the involvement of regions in EU programs in the field of education, science and culture.
According to Dmitry Kuleba, an interdepartmental working group will soon be created to implement this initiative.
He called on the deputy ministers to take responsibility for their responsibilities for European integration, have a focus on results, and establish and maintain close cooperation with the relevant committees of the Verkhovna Rada.
“Now we need to keep the high pace of the adoption of European integration legislation,” Dmitry Kuleba emphasized. He recalled that the Verkhovna Rada of the new convocation has already adopted 13 European integration bills.
