According to the press service of the Mariupol City Council, at the Azovstal metallurgical plant, a scheduled shutdown of blast furnace # 2 is being carried out for repair work.
The Public Relations Department in Mariupol of the Metinvest Group informs that the execution of the technological operation to shut down the unit may be accompanied by an increase in noise at the enterprise and in the city from 14:00 on October 28 to 9:00 the next day.
The activities carried out are safe and do not affect the state of the environment, said Rinat Akhmetov's company.
Phased overhaul of blast furnace No. 2 at the Azovstal plant continues.
In winter, a number of works related to environmental safety were completed - repair and cleaning of gas ducts and valves of the aspiration system of the casting yard and skip pit. We also updated the system for shipping the captured dust.
The stage of modernization of the blast furnace air heater is now completed. It was carried out by the contractors for 90 days without stopping production.
During this time, the refractory lining of the combustion chamber, the lining of the hot fitting, gas burner and assembly hatches have been replaced. We inspected the gates of the gas burner, hot blast, smoke valves, all engines on the equipment. This work has significantly reduced flue gas carbon dioxide emissions. The cost of the air heater reconstruction was UAH 9.8 million.
Work is planned for October to apply layers of refractory mixture to the inner surfaces of the blast furnace. Cooling pipes will be replaced at the same time.
Earlier it was reported that Metinvest Group decision to gradually transfer to open access the results of the modernized facilities of the Mariupol steel plants.
