At the metallurgical plant "Azovstal" Metinvest Group after the overhaul of the third category from the reserve derive a fourth blast furnace (BF No. 4). Experts have developed a program for the blowing of the planned output on furnace operating parameters. Investment in the overhaul of the unit amounted to UAH 21 mln.
After stopping and withdrawing to the reserve in connection with reduction in demand for the metal due to quarantine restrictions blast furnace No. 4 resumes. Simple equipment metallurgists used for major repairs of the unit. The main works replacing steel valves bell-less charging devices, scheduled maintenance of support equipment and construction of the furnace and pipeline cleaning of the aspiration system to maintain its design capacity.
"Despite the current world situation and the decline in demand for steel products in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, we have effectively used the downtime of our equipment. At this period moved the previously scheduled planned maintenance and major repairs. The result – the updated equipment is ready to work in the conditions of adaptive quarantine and a gradual recovery of demand for metal," - said General Director of Azovstal Enver Tskitishvili.
Recall, despite the difficult situation in connection with the introduction of quarantine in Ukraine and metallurgical enterprises of Metinvest Group in Mariupol continued to work. The employees did all the necessary measures to protect their health and others to maintain economic stability in the city. In addition, Metinvest refused a tax holiday that gave us the ability to fill the budget of Mariupol in pandemic conditions.
