Mariupol's metallurgical plants mastered 38 new types of metal products last year, the company Metinvest, which manages the plants, said. Among the novelties is a new grade and size range of continuously cast slabs and finished metal products.

Mariupol plants brought 38 new types of Ukrainian rolled metal products to the international market

As noted in Metinvest, by improving the production technology, increasing the mechanical properties of metal products in accordance with the increased requirements of customers, the plants are expanding the geography of deliveries.

The Azovstal steel plant of Metinvest Group became the leader in the development of new products last year.

Among the 20 new products are steel blanks for the European market. In 2021, more than 200 thousand tons of these products were delivered to customers. The converter shop has developed and mastered the production technology of new grades of low-silicon steel for new customers. For SSAB enterprises in Finland - steel grade Grade 2626 with a residual silicon content of not more than 0.05%. For NLMK LA LOUVIERE in Belgium - steel grade DUC007 with a strict restriction on the content of non-ferrous impurities and nitrogen.

In the plate shop of MK Azovstal of the Metinvest Group, the company's specialists produce sheets of alloyed high-strength steel of the S550Q grade, used in construction and engineering for welded metal structures. Also, the technology for the production of sheet products with a thickness of more than 50 mm from structural steel of the S355J2W grade with improved properties of resistance to atmospheric corrosion, which was previously produced only in thicknesses up to 50 mm, was mastered.

For Arabian International company for steel structures from Saudi Arabia, the steel plant produced A537-2 MT steel sheets for the manufacture of water tanks for seawater desalination. It complied with an additional requirement - a minimum tempering temperature of at least 650 degrees Celsius.

MMK named after Ilyich of Metinvest Group expanded its product range by 18 items in 2021.

Thus, the list of steel products includes: rolled products from new steel grades, hot-rolled coil of new standard sizes, rolled products with improved properties. The 1700 sheet rolling shop mastered hot-rolled steel with a thickness of 2.5-3.5 mm and a width of 970 mm from steel grade S500MC for welded structures and construction, as well as the production of rolled products from strip steel grades L360N and L245NВ for the production of pipes with increased requirements for mechanical properties.

In the sheet rolling shop "3000" - thick plates made of S460NL steel grade with a chemical composition according to EN 10025-3 standard with a guarantee for tensile tests and hardness after heat treatment of samples, as well as multi-certification rolled products for Spain, meeting the requirements of four steel grades at the same time, requirements of the Pressure Vessel Directive PED 2014/68/EU and regulation AD2000-W0.

In the cold rolling shop of Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Metinvest Group, annealed DX53D steel and DC01 steel with improved mechanical properties, stampability and improved surface quality for the manufacture of heating radiators were manufactured. The production of galvanized rolled products with a zinc coating weight of at least 100 g/m2 (Z100) according to DIN EN 10346:2015 at AGNTs-2u has been mastered.

The entire range of commercial products mastered by metallurgists of Ilyich Iron and Steel Works and Azovstal of the Metinvest Group meets international industry standards, has the required chemical composition and new standard sizes, and is produced using a modified technology.
