Metinvest, an international vertically integrated group of metals and mining companies, is delighted to announce that its Italian rolling mill Metinvest Trametal has become one of the European Climate Leaders by the Financial Times in 2021.

The rating consists of 300 companies that achieved the largest reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2014-2019. During the specified period, Metinvest Trametal reduced the main greenhouse gas emissions by 6.8%, which allowed it to take its rightful place in the ranking.

Together with research company Statista, the Financial Times analyzed data on greenhouse gas emissions of 4,000 European companies over six years. Specific carbon dioxide emissions are defined as the ratio of CO 2 emissions in tonnes per one million euros of revenue. The rating included all companies headquartered in one of 33 European countries and with revenues of at least EUR40 million or GBP36 million in 2019.

Commenting on the news, Yuri Ryzhenkov, CEO of Metinvest Group, said:

“The inclusion of Metinvest Trametal in the first rating of Europe 's Climate Leaders by the Financial Times is an important event for the Group. As part of our ambitious ESG program, we are looking for ways to further improve the environmental performance of our operations. Over the past decade, we have reduced our gross air emissions by more than 30%. In addition, despite challenging conditions in 2020, we channeled a record US $ 450 million towards environmental projects. ”

Roberto Re, Head of Metinvest Europe, commented:

“We are honored to be recognized as one of Europe 's Climate Leaders from reputable expert publications such as the Financial Times and Statista. Over the years, we have done everything to reduce our carbon footprint and will strive to further develop this achievement. Indicators such as the specific greenhouse gas emissions used in this study help us reduce our environmental impact more effectively. ”
