The Polymetal Production Branch of Uralelectromed JSC (an enterprise of the UMMC metallurgical complex) is completing the installation of a unit designed to remove solidified melt residues from ladles.
The new rig consists of a beacon, swinging cradle to cushion impacts, an overhead wedge and a winch. A bucket weighing about 14 tons is installed in the cradle. The process of removing residues takes place with the help of a powerful wedge strike. During a shift, metallurgists clean 5-6 ladles from crusts.
With the installation of a new installation, metallurgists also optimize the process of “pouring” the ladles with chalk solution, which prevents the melt from welding to the ladle walls. Now it will be produced in the immediate vicinity of the new unit, which will save time on preparing the ladle for receiving the melt.
At the moment, the winch is being installed and the power supply is being connected to the unit. Installation of all equipment is scheduled for completion in October.
