Locomotive tuning: a huge octopus was painted on a diesel locomotive in Kirovgrad

Kirovgrad (Sverdlovsk Region)

The Polymetal Production Branch of Uralelectromed JSC (Kirovgrad) has painted a new diesel locomotive TGM6N-UGMK, designed to work at mining, metallurgical and other industrial enterprises. A spilling copper in the form of a 10-meter fiery octopus was painted on the locomotive.

Ideas for tuning the locomotive were sent by the plant employees and residents of Kirovgrad for two months. In total, 14 works were submitted to the competition. Participants suggested painting metallurgists at the stove on a diesel locomotive, compositions in the spirit of socialist realism and industrial landscapes. The best, in the opinion of the competition committee, was the image of an octopus. The sketch was drawn by Anastasia Samokhvalova, an enrichment product inspector of the PPM technical control department.

- In as a child I studied at an art school. When I heard about the competition, inspiration immediately came to me. I wanted to show the strength, the power of the copper melt. All this was reflected in my "fiery" work, - said Anastasia Samokhvalova.

The art project "Paint a diesel locomotive" is timed to the 105th anniversary of the Kirovgrad copper smelting production. On May 1, 1914, the plant produced its first copper.

- This is very significant event. For 105 years, 5 million 400 thousand tons of blister copper have been produced in Kirovgrad, - noted Oleg Bernyaev, chief engineer of the Polymetal Production branch of JSC Uralelectromed. - A painting on a diesel locomotive is a real gift for us. Not everyone can see the true beauty of pouring metal. The artist managed to convey the bewitching magic of the copper smelting process.

It was decided to apply a huge drawing on the sides of the newest locomotive that arrived at the PPM this year - TGM6N-UMMC, assembled in the Kurgan region at the Shadrinsk Automobile Unit Plant (an enterprise of the machine-building complex UMMC).

The model is equipped with a hydraulic transmission, a diesel engine of 863 hp. , a driver's cab with an improved layout, bright LED spotlights and side lights. In addition, the locomotive is equipped with an autonomous diesel generator. All operating parameters of the locomotive (speed, engine speed, water, oil and air pressure) are displayed on the on-board computer display in the driver's cab.

- The capacities of the TGM6N-UGMK diesel locomotive can simultaneously "take" up to 20 cars. This model has a very good traction engine, - says Roman Klunov, head of the branch railway department. - In total, within the framework of the modernization program, we will receive six modern locomotives, four of them have already arrived, two more will come before the end of 2020.

Help

Branch “ Polymetal Production "(" PPM ") JSC" Uralelectromed "is a unique production facility for processing a wide range of copper-containing raw materials, both primary - ore and concentrates, and secondary - scrap and waste copper. The production facility has developed a unique technology that allows processing raw materials with a copper content of 1% and bringing it up to 97.4% in blister copper.

The main product - blister copper - is shipped to the Verkhnepyshminskaya site to produce cathode copper. The metal oxides obtained during production are involved in the technological chains of the UMMC enterprises, where valuable components are extracted from them. The technology makes it possible to process concentrates, scrap and waste containing precious metals in order to further extract gold and silver from them.
